THE FINEST LEATHERS FROM FRANCE

Our leathers are sourced from some of the finest tanneries in Europe. In particular, we use calf skins, full-grain hides, and occasional exotic skins, all selected for depth of grain, flexibility, durability, and beauty.

Our leathers come from tanneries with long heritage and proven environmental and quality standards—skins are aged, dyed, and finished in ways that respect both tradition and modern demands.

We believe a great shoe starts with the leather: how it feels, how it moves, how it ages.

OUR FRENCH

TANNERY

We use leather from Tannerie d’Annonay, a historic and prestigious French tannery in the Rhône Valley, which is now owned by Hermès. This tannery is known for its iconic box-calf leathers and superb craftsmanship.

Our process:

  • Raw Hides are selected from excellent origins, inspected for faults.

  • Vegetable Tanning and other refined processes are used, breathing etc., to bring out natural grain and durability.

  • Dyeing and Finishing bring the depth of color, the right sheen or matte finish.

  • Conditioning and Properly Drying the leather is crucial to ensure stability and longevity.

WE ONLY USE GOODYEAR WELT

The Goodyear welt technique dates back to the mid-19th century, invented (and improved) by Charles Goodyear Jr. and others, revolutionizing shoe construction with its durable, reproducible stitch method.

Here’s why Goodyear welt is unmatched:

  • Welt - The leather or strip (welt) is sewn to both the insole and upper, then the outsole is stitched to the welt—this creates a strong, resilient join that allows resoling without damaging the upper.

  • Cork - Between the insole and outsole, cork (or similar filler) is used—it molds to your foot over time, adding comfort, insulation, and support.

  • Seams - Because the seams go through the welt, not directly through the upper to the sole, moisture protection is improved and longevity is dramatically increased. Mass-produced cemented shoes cannot compete in durability.

OUR CUTTING

PROCESS

We begin with a custom last (a mold for your foot shape) built from your measurements.

Using that, pattern pieces are drafted specifically for your feet; accounting for asymmetries, arch shape, heel to toe length, instep height, and more.

Each piece of leather is cut with great care: grain direction, flaws, waste minimized but style maximized. Precision at this stage ensures comfort, balance, and beauty in the final shoe.

OUR SEWING

PROCESS

Sewing begins with the upper; hand-or machine-stitched according to the style.

The welt is sewn to both upper and insole (the Goodyear stitch), the sole is then attached to the welt. Key seams (toe cap, vamp, quarters) are reinforced; linings are sewn in, edges finished by hand.

The last finishing: edge dressing, sole bevels, polishing, burnishing. Every stitch matters, every edge is refined.

HAND-PAINTED

FINISHES

Where leather becomes living art.

  • Hand-dyed - Our artisans hand-dye each pair using techniques drawn from the masters in Spain and France. Expect rich patinas, subtle fades, and depth that deepen with wear.

  • Patina and Burnishing Options - Choose from Anticatura style aged effects, mirror shine burnished toes, oxidized edges, gradient fades, or classic “heritage burnish” for vintage-type appeal.

  • Custom-made - Every pair is individually finished: no two are exactly the same. These finishes are labour intensive, sometimes taking 8-12 hours of dedicated work (as seen in similar shoes that use Anticatura or burnishing from Spanish makers).
